10 must-haves for a waterfront home

The warm weather is here, the holidays are fast approaching and the desire for the beach and the open sea is growing. How about we help you wait with our 10 must-have pieces for the perfect waterfront home decor?

First and foremost, you need to create the right atmosphere. To do this, we will favour colours reminiscent of the marine world, with shades of blue, beige and sand.

We will choose natural materials such as terracotta (1), wicker (2), linen (3) and wood (4).

With that said, let’s get down to business and look at our 10 must-have pieces for a waterfront home.

1 – The chaise longue

This is perhaps the most iconic piece of seaside furniture. Whether they are folding, sober or imposing, designers never cease to offer original collections every year, for all tastes.

2 – Wicker and rattan accessories

For a successful decoration, abuse wicker and rattan! A few baskets, hats, bags or tote bags hung on the walls will create a warm and natural atmosphere.

3 – Lanterns

Scattered here and there in your home, or grouped on a windowsill, lanterns give that seaside spirit we love so much. Don’t hesitate to play with the sizes and colours of the lanterns, and at nightfall, light them up for a cosy atmosphere.

4 – Pottery

As we said at the beginning of the article, the decorative elements to favour are those made from natural materials. What could be better than adding pottery to your home to create a chic, bohemian atmosphere?

To bring that much appreciated feeling of idleness to the water’s edge, choose pretty, soft cushions, preferably in blue, sand or beige tones.

7 – The Acapulco chair

Its name already makes us travel. This icon of contemporary design was created in the 1950s in Mexico by a local craftsman whose name remains a mystery. Crossing eras, it is for us a strong piece of seaside design.

8 – Household linen

Choose natural materials such as linen or cotton. Always keep in mind to favour colours in line with our theme. You can decorate your table with a pretty plain or patterned tablecloth, or choose a pretty bedspread. But be careful not to overdo the stripes! Too many stripes are hard on the eye.

9 – Rope objects

Reminiscent of boat ropes, designers have integrated rope on many objects. Here is a selection just for you:

10 – The shaker

The final piece for a perfect waterside atmosphere is the shaker! There’s nothing like a little refreshment on a sunny day. It’s also a beautiful and trendy piece of decoration at the moment.
