Book : Chairs, 1000 masterpieces of design from the 19th century to today
In our library of books dedicated to 20th century design, we have a reference that we like to browse regularly:“Chaises, 1000 chefs-d’oeuvre du design du XIXè siècle à nos jours” written by Charlotte & Peter Fiell published by La Martinière.
The two authors are design specialists; they have published more than thirty books with Taschen! Peter & Charlotte Fiell met while studying in London at the renowned Sotheby ‘s Works of Art Course. Charlotte had previously studied art history at the British Institute in Florence before taking a BA in the history of drawing at Camberwell College of Arts. Peter had trained at Sotheby’ s before working for the Victoria & Albert Museum. Together they opened a gallery devoted to 20th century applied art and furniture.
Chairs is dedicated to vintage chairs designed from 1800 to the present day. All the pieces presented are incredible, timeless and signed by great American, Scandinavian, French, English, Italian designers… Throughout the pages, we discover or rediscover chairs, armchairs but also armchairs that have marked the history of design. Considered as a reference in terms of vintage furniture, we can only advise you to buy this book!
